Our paper got featured on the cover page of the Protein Science journal. It focuses on the extracellular cell surface proteins, other than ACE2, that can bind with the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, potentially playing a role in viral entry into the host cell. Computational and surface plasmon resonance results show that perlecan LG3 stably binds with the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein at a site different from the ACE2-binding interface. Shown here is the LG3 (red)-RBD (gray)-ACE2 (blue) complex obtained by molecular docking and simulations. Congratulations Fahmida! She received first prize in a poster presentation session at the 1st National Conference on Advances in Science and Technology organized by the Faculty of Science of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Fahmida is working on Antimicrobial Peptides' ability to pore formation in the bacterial membrane using all-atom molecular dynamics simulation.
